I picked this thing up for $250 I really don't know anything about it. But I got the motor to run and I ordered a carburetor kit because it only runs when the choke is all the way on.
So I went to the hardware store got some pressure treated plywood and some 2 x 2's and I'm going to town.

We Kinda think the engine is a Johnson 20/25 HP Like a 1979 ish. The boat is a 1978.

For every ounce of weight you add, deducts from the 350lb capacity of the boat, including people, motor, gas and all gear.

Fiberglass boat, correct?

:Yup she's almost a one man boat now with all that extra weight you've put in her.

All most 3- 3/4" thick and 7 2x4 cut in 1/2 to make 2x2
And 1/2 a sheet of real thin pressure-treated plywood like 1/4 thick

I was thinking the a 4x8 3/4" is about 70lb x3 plus 2x2
And carpet I might be at around 300 lb

What's the weight of the motor you have on that, and what are you doing for flotation foam?

I think it's like 40lb and for foam I don't know someone said to get that 2 part stuff you mix and dump in.

Mr Mr Mike,
Early on in your post you mentioned pressure treated lumber....please tell me there is no pressure treated lumber in your boat now....right? The pressure treated lumber will harm your boat! The chemicals will eat away at the aluminum....

He mentioned that it is a fiberglass boat, not aluminum.

It's a 1979 Johnson 20 or 25 hp but I don't know.
How to tell them apart.
It's really not that heavy.

But you don't have much power either. 'long as you're not in a hurry, no big deal. But please make sure she's not overweight, or unstable (top heavy) before taking other people out.
