I have a 190 hp 3.7 that starts extremely hard. Tune up done in aug 08. new fuel filters this spring. Have to crank engine for what seems like an eternity before it fires. Kinda like the fuel system losses its prime. Once running well runs fine and fire right up all day. Kinda baffeled here guys. Anyone have any suggestions? BTW boat is a 86 fourwinns 195 horizon cuddy:confused:

My 470 would do the same thing if it sat for more than a month or so. I purchased and installed an in line pump bulb like you find on an outboard to the fuel line before the fuel pump. A few pumps of the bulb to get the fuel up to the fuel pump, and quick starts. Figured if it was safe for an outboard it would be safe in the I/O and safer than priming the carb..

Good luck!
