My 6HP fisherman sputters when I rev it up...

Hi guys, I have just completed rebuilding my 1976 6hp fisherman... I rebuilt the carb, changed coils, set points changed spark plugs, rebuilt the fuel pump... I fired it up it idles awesome.. When i rev it up it wont go to full throddle, just misses and smokes... I have been reading the posts and i guess they all smoke under thoddle in a barrel... Any Ideas would be appreacieted...

You can't do any high RPM running in a barrel without problems....and you can damage the motor running at high RPM in neutral.
They are meant to run in a lake/river/larger body of water.
