Effective December 1st. I will receive a pay raise of $500.00 per year.
$19.23 biweekly or $38.46 per month gross.
Health insurance will go up from $150.98 to $175.14 per month an increase of $24.16
New adjusted gross monthly income $14.36
Divided by 160 hours of work per month and it works out to 0.08975 cents per hour

Prescription CO-pay increase from $20.00 to $25.00
Office visits from $10.00 to $15.00
Emergency room from $25.00 to $50.00
Hospital admission from $150.00 to $250.00

In my house with 5 kids I fill 4 prescriptions per month if no one is sick. ( $20.00 more per month)

$14.36 -- $20.00 =
It will now cost me $5.64 more per month than before the raise.

So much for the over paid state worker who is always getting the BIG pay raises. I have not made money from a raise since the frist year Jeb Bush was in office.
This is not a political grip but the facts that most people don't know.

Jim.. I feel for ya bud... Cost of living ain't never gonna go down...

Yer lucky you got anything... Really supprized you did'nt get a pay cut... State has to pay for that new school class size amendment that got voted in, ya know... Somewhere in the billions of state dollars to fund that mess... I'm not supporting jeb here either, but jeb and I were both against that amendment cause the creators of the amendment never came up with budget for it... Amendment passed... I wonder if they counted the votes right? :D Where am I going?

Oh yeah!

Keep up the good work Officer Jim! :)

The guys are right, Jim.Consider yourself very lucky. The biggest problems you face are when you retire with the pension they give you. As of Sept 2nd, I have been retired rom the City Of Ft Myers ,Public werks dept. I didn't HAVE to, but--(After 30years, you just know it's time).
I'm now paying out of pocket what my employeee bennies used to pay for.It went from $120 per month for me and spouse,PPO, to $646 per month, HMO ($98 more for PPO).We are living on borrowed time...Literally. I have been hitting the bricks every mornin, looking for employment, but so far, no go. I figure I have about 7 weeks accumulated cushion (the main reason we opted not to pay for internet access after this one expires, thus I may dissapear any day now).
But I feel your pain, bro. With a family of five, it's a hard life. Mine are now grown and living hard lives of thier own, but been there, done that, got the holy tee shirt.
Keep the faith, and saying, "good morning".
Because any day you can do that is a good morning.

Lucky Jim, same boat here. Wife got pay raise from State with backpay for working without a contract for two years. Now the health costs have gone up and were passed on. Net was a decrease in salary. Most of the people in the state think the workers got a big raise.

In my job, they restructured the comp. It is looking like a $10,000 cut here. Can't tell until March of next year when the company would have to pay it out.

Re: My big state pay raise

Jim, my pop is retired Florida Marine Patrolman. His retirement ain't much, and his health insurance is like $1000 every six months. He could be much worse off, but after working for the state his whole life, I feel like they could continue to cover him with same insurance he had when he before he retired.

Anybody remember when working for the government was considered a GOOD job? Dad would be better off financially if he had been on welfare all his life. Free house, free food, free medical care....oh well, live and learn :D
