We have high winds here in Central WI.
Last night, Gusts to 40mph. and this afternoon Gusts to 50-60

This morning we've been averaging 25-30. About an hour ago a gust of 48.

When I left for work our portable basket ball hoop was on the ground. I left it there and thought if that's all, we're good. Picking up some trash and cans, I seen my boat cover. Tore from the engine cover about 4 feet up the middle then to the side. Completely unusable now... Almost winter and now I have to buy a new cover.

On a side note. I work at a hotel. I've already picked up about 7 shingles from the ground. So we have roof damage. And the high winds haven't really hit yet.

North of you we had the same thing. Trees down and power went out a couple of times for 2 hours a crack. This a.m. we woke up to snow on the ground(still snowing but not sticking) and still blowing. Duluth, Mn schools were even closed. Need to check my shingles. We just had new shingles put on 2 weeks ago......

Thats what I heard this morning...

2 weeks ago we had a roofer fix a bunch of spot from a storm earlier this summer.

Here's a few photos I took. These guys are headed north.
When I came in this morning I couldn't find a spot to park. I took the pic kinda late, but there were a total of 30 trucks in our lot.

Re: My boat cover is destroyed

We had a freak tornado about 15 miles away from us in Sturtevant and MT Pleasant. Toppled a couple of Case tractors. Really big ones! It started in Somers close to Shoreland Lutheran School where my son goes. They did not know about it till it was over. The weather service said it just showed up! No prior cloud that looked like it could form one. Luckily it missed the school and no one got injured. He did get a free day off of school because of downed power lines. He was really bummed about that. :D

WOW-
It seems to be one heck of a big storm right over the middle of the continent.
Watched the weather this morning and the swirly center (low) is spinning counter clockwise bringing warm air up on the east coast and depositing that cold arctic air on its swing back down.
Winds are supposed to be in the 90 km area for the Toronto area.

Hang on everyone.

300 miles south of Chicago we had 60 mph wind gusts, tornado warnings, heavy rain and lightning at 6 am tuesday. A few trees and power lines down. And this was a long way from the brunt of the storm!
This was one BIG storm.

It goes all the way down to the Gulf too...The wind is picking back up here and they said later today it will get rough again.

Re: My boat cover is destroyed

I am NW of BuzzStPoint about 75 miles.
We too had gust of 46 and above from 8pm until 8am, Hit 51, 53, and 54mph several times.

Was about ready to put the boat in the garage yesterday am, but ran out of time before I had to take wife to doctor appt.

Amazingly, we kept power, no tree damage in my yard, haven't seen the boat yet.

My 110 year old house is not built for this wind, I can feel it move, and its cold.

Just looked out at my stupid flowering crab tree, it still has 20 leaves AND one blossom on it.

We must have the same builder... M house was built around 1900 The storm windows rattling and when a large gust of wind come you can feel the house shake. We didn't lose power either.

Re: My boat cover is destroyed

I just took a walk around the hotel to pick up shingles.

8 total spots as of now..
1 spot is big showing bare wood.
another is large and you can see 2 areas around that large spot where shingles are lifting in the wind...

Re: My boat cover is destroyed

Buzz,

My cover is shredded too. So is my EZ-up canopy.

The tornado mentioned near Sturtevant took the roof off the Case IH tractor plant, passed real close to some of my relatives homes as well.

Man, I thought this wind would let up, but alas, no,.

OK, both boat covers are secure and intact.

But the plastic quonset hut shed has lost a section.

Wind gusts have been below 40 mph since 9am, but expected to increase in the next few hours.

Forecast is now for 23* tonight, guess I should shut off the outside water faucets.
