I disassembled my key switch, and the thing came apart in several pieces. I tried for the life of me to put this thing back together.

My question would be, is it a better idea just to invest in a new switch? I don't know the cost for a new switch, but it may be better than the headache?

Any input? Thanks!

Re: My ignition switch. Any ideas??

I wish I had a nickel for every item I've ever disassembled that basically just decomposed after taking that one certain fastener off...been there a thousand times, if not more! Guns can be very entertaining that way...just take out the screw, move this thing over like *that* and BOIIIIIIING! Little screws and springs and levers goin flying into the next county. And there's always that little part that smacks you right in the eye.

I cannot imagine anyone having the sheer patience it would take---not to mention the incredible talent---to write an easy to follow description of how to reassemble a mechanism like that. Of course, I'm imagining a dozen or more small pieces to which no one could give names, other than thingamajig and dealiebobber. You'd probably have to invent a few words along the way.

Maybe it would be worth your time (not to mention your sanity) to just get a new ignition switch and be done with it. ;)

If it was me, I'd probably spend about 18 hours figuring out how the thing goes back together. And I would accomplish the reassembly and reinstall the thing, and two days later it would fail just because it was worn out to begin with.
