There is a weird hole on the port side of the engine. I am pointing to it with the screwdriver in the photo. It only leaks after a test run in the tank. It is leaking an oily fluid. Where is this coming from?

Well, I don't know for sure. However, I can safely say that those motors drain glop out of all the drain holes, especially after running in a tank. That much is normal and you can't do anything about it. However, as you say the one you are pointing at is in a weird location. Personally, I wouldn't give it a second thought.....after making sure the gearcase oil is full and water free.

Lol. The gearcase did have water in it when I drained it for the first time. Since I filled it up I haven't checked to see if there is water in there. Should I drain it and see? If there is, what would be the likely cause?

That is a drain for the midsection. As long as the discharge is not gear oil, it is normal.

Bad gearcase seals. The oily fluid that leaked out....... was it black or was it milky and smelled like gear oil? The smell is the give-a way. Keep in mind 2 strokes always ooze unburned oil from the motor and it is normally black and might have a gas smell.

I think all of you guys are missing this entirely. It sounds to me like he needs to go see the urologist.

It is generally black, in the photo you can see the oil still on the cav plate. Thanks guys.

Nice one Commander, everyone else ignored it. :)

Well the ooze that is coming from the little weep hole is black at first and then changes to a milky color that smells like gear oil. Do I need to replace some seals, and how hard is that job? Assuming they are still available.

I forgot to mention that the tank had a lot of milky oily residue in there once I shut the motor down. What seals need to be replaced to fix this issue?

That Fatty will dump lots of oil into the water. Both burned and unburned fuel from the exhaust and any excess liquid that builds up in the crankcase. If you are sure it is gear oil, remove the gearcase, remove the waterpump and pull the driveshaft straight up and out of the gearcase. It was one of the few w/o a pinon nut. You should see the seal.
