Hello all I need help making a decision on a restoration of a boat I recently purchased.

I currently own a 1989 21.5 Larson Sportcruiser with a 4.3L Alpha 1 drive. This boat is totally rotten but mechanically everything works great and has been professionally maintained by the marina for 11 years.
I currently purchased a 1989 22 Larson Hampton with a 4.3L Alpha 1 drive. This boat is missing the engine block. All other parts are in my possession.
I uninstalled the outdrive, gimbal assembly, and the motor mount plate with steering ram inside the boat so now I?m at an empty keyhole in the transom.
Should I use the original engine mount and gimbal and trim rams to the boat which I have no knowledge of or uninstall the know good one from my old rotted boat. The mechcanic at the marina stated to use the one that came with the new boat in an effort to save me labor money. That way they don?t have to uninstall it.
The reason Im asking is the rotted boat is 3 hrs away at lake erie. The newly purchased boat is here in town. I want to replace the gimbal bearing exhaust bellows, shift cable boot the two water hoses, sand out and paint, install new anodes.
I am not a marine mechanic. Should I use something that I know works or use something that I don?t know that works. (this is only for gimbal, trim rams and interior motor support bracket and steering ram) I will be using the lower unit from the proven boat at Lake Erie as suggested by the mechanic. Or are these components pretty straight forwards. Are there any particular things to look out for?
Its simpler for me now to use the unproven components since they are at my house and I can restore them in my garage.
Thanks and sorry its so long. LoL
