Yea i got it right i got to looking at the carb and the choke plate was all the way straight an not turn to the holes on the throttle plate...thats why it would not idle right...then i had dirt in the carb i blew 110psi in it an thats it... put it back together then the first pull she fired right up so i shot to the river... i went up so if it didin go i could float back but i went a good mile up then chilled there for a min then pulled the rope on the first pull and i was off...

BUT what i have to ask when i got home i put the muffs on to clean all the dirty water out and why i was down there i put it in gear and turned the prop and there was like a squeal noise???i cranked it up then put it in gear and i cant here it i was just asking if thats ok???thanks

Re: MY lower unit oil is GREY and green!!!

You put it INTO GEAR and turned the prop and heard a squeeling noise.

Turning the prop in gear turns the vertical shaft, WATER PUMP, and motor, right?

A damp rubber impeller fitting TIGHTLY into a stainless housing, and turning......

Normal.

Drain the gear oil, refill through the bottom drain hole, pushing the air up and out the top vent to ensure the gearcase is filled with oil, not bubbles.

Check the drain pan and the drain plug for metal particles. A little 'pastyness' with metalic 'sheen' on the plug, is normal, chunks/pieces are not.
