I've been casually looking for a new boat for a few months now. I figured even if it was a project, I'd get it if the right deal came along. Well, the right deal came along. I found this browsing neighboring states craiglist, and was expecting a total project. When I got to pick up the boat, I was surprised. No rot, Transom solid. Good gelcoat.

The guy bought it for the motor and trolling motor, from a widow whos husband had just repowered the boat a few months before he passed away. The new owner just wanted it out of his garage, and I was happy to help.

Im going to have the trailer sandblasted and rhino lined, order a fish finder for the console, and recarpet the boat. I need to get the oxidation off the gelcoat. I also added my motor, jackplate, and rewired everythign so I knew exactly what was going on.

Best part of all this? Including gas to go get it, and wiring supplies, I'm $565 in this boat.

1987 glassport bass scalper. 17' long, 77" beam. johnson 115 v4, 4" jackplate. 36v motorguide tm.

good steal! what lake are you running it on?

Loooks like the motor is hanging a bit low to me.

I actually bought it about 45 min south east of richmond, so not too far from you.

I'll be running it on the upper potomac, and various electric lakes around here - with an occasional trip to smith mountain, anna, kerr, briery creek, and deep creek md. Is there a general starting point on how far the prop shaft shuold be below pad? Wondering what speeds I should expect with this setup. My old boat was an 83 dixie v hull, and with this same 115, and was at 42 mph -with a boat 500 lbs heavier.

Put up a post in the prop section. I'd move this one but with the other commentary you'd probably rather it stay here. Nice boat by the way.
