I have a 1986 force 125 hp...I can't get it to shift. I had just mounted the remote and I was able to get it to go to forward and the neutral and the reverse..but now I can't get it to shift at all....Something seems to be stuck...any ideas?
The prop is able to be turn by hand...

Does the handle ove at all?

To find out if the problem is in the motor, cable, or control, disconnect cable from the motor.
Does it shift now?
Does the motor linkage move when you push it by hand?

Cable sleeve could have a split in it.
Cable could be seized inside the sleeve.
Not connected properly to control.
Linkage on motor not right.

Is the motor running when you are having the problem? If not, you need to turn the prop for the shift cogs to engage sometimes, otherwise they hang-up on eachother. One of the cable ends is spring loaded. That one's for the throttle. Does your control have a knob you pull out for throttle-only?
