My second 650 question

Alright i got it running. i ordered the new impeller and repair manual from iboats. but it won't be here until the 10th, today is the 6th.

i'd like to take it apart and see if there is just something clogging up the impeller line so i can run it this weekend. so, where do i need to start to drop the lower unit and find this impeller?

also, i've only been able to start the motor in a big old garbage can. the water line does not come up to the same water line mark that is currently on the engine. the vents are all covered like my dad told me they had to be, the only thing i notice that is out of the water is two kinda clam-shell shaped piece of aluminum with a flat head screw holding them on. i'm wondering if this is where the impeller is, and since they aren't underwater, is that why its not spraying?

Where does the motor actually draw the water in to the impeller to be pushed up the motor and out the telltale so i can try cleaning that out?

i did run a piece of trim string up the hole and nothin happened, still no flow. Just curious if the water level is too low and not bein' picked up.

The little grill with the slots in it underneath the cavitation plate is where the water enters the engine.Notice that this grill is on both sides of the housing.Ron G
