Still have work to do, clean the loft and clean around teh overhead door. But I now have a work space for my stuff and have about half my tools put away.

Looks like you had the furnace fired up a few times - the paint is burnt off! Bet that smelled good!

I picked a warm day, opened both doors and fired it up. Had the garden hose handy though, wasn't sure how the paint would blister off. It keeps it a nice 70 degrees inside, but I can't get it to draw good enough not to smoke when I add wood. Think I need to raise my grate and make a smaller door for the draft.

I forgot to tell you to paint befour putting up your tools. I didnt when I done mine, now sevral years later it yould take a semi to haul everything out so I could paint. Oh well its worked so far.

But it is nice to have a place out of the weather to work on things, as you shall see. enjoy.

How satisfying DD! Now all you need are some decent lights and you'll have a top notch work space.

I have paint for the walls, but it is still too cold in the evenings. I don't want a fire going when I paint, and would like to open the doors up.

I had it all cleaned out when I first moved in, but have been working out of tool boxes since then. Kind of crowded with all the junk I collect. My wife thinks I am a pack rat for some reason.

That is my 1969 Mercury Cougar XR7. Going to set it up for 1/4 mile, run it a year then sell it for another. I had it since high school. Bought it from my now mother in law for parts, parked it in the trees at my dad's pasture. 2 years ago I started bringing it back to life. Bad mistake was leaving it uncovered with both side windows broken out. In another 6 or 8 years it should be running and ready to go.

DD, you've come a long way on your clean up. Are you going to do mine next?

Just a thought, that being a 69 it is going to be a sought after car. If put back to original, you'd be surprised how much more it would be worth.

A bud of mine just sold his 72 Road Runner. He bought it in baskets for $1500 back in the 80's. He had it on Ebay and removed it and sold it for $80,000! Can you say big profit?

Re: My shop project update

I really thought about going original with it to up the value. To really do that right the numbers need to match, which is not possible. Engine is too far gone to save the block. Before I got it the seats had been stripped, so front and back are gone. And so far I haven't been able to find all of the electrical controls for the tail lights and turn signals. That had the turn signals that flash sequential and it had a small fire in the wiring.
It was the XR7 with the 351w engine. If all back to original in perfect condition it would book around $20,000. Average book is around $12,000. Low book is around $6,000.
With non matching numbers and a lot of small things that will nbe obvious to a collector it would bring between $8,000 and $10,000. Still a good profit when I paid $50 for it back in the day.

I do it for the fun of building. My last one went original. Was a 1970 Mustang coupe. Turned out nice, I broke even by the time I was finished with the details I like to work on. Plus I want to get back on the drag strip.

I always wondered how people double post. Now I know.
