Sounds like it could be electrical or fuel... how's your fuel flow? when was the last time you did plugs? fuel filter(s)? fuel pick up in the tank? Compression of each cylinder?

Ayuh,.... The temps are never ever equal, side to side,....

Check the contents of the fuel filter, 'n pop on a new one,....

Who tuned/ dialed in, the new carb,..??
Brand, 'n model,..??

the temp difference is a lot.i cant go near the starboard side when I was trying it out.the carb came of the shelf at the local parts store.600 cfm holley 4 barrel.did the same thing with the stock 2 barrel also.plenty of fuel pumping and plugs were good.the new carb had a new filter.if the exhaust was plugged would that make it hot on that side and cause poor performance.

checked timing advance and found timing isn't advancing.stays on 12 degrees.is this a knock sensor or spark box issue?

this 2001 is suppose to have a knock sensor and module according to factory manual.it doesn't.i have replaced manifolds and risers and the ignition module.now the timing will go up to about 22 degrees.book says 28-32.initial timing was set at 10 with purple wire grounded.

we have changed the carb jets with ones from a 5.0 and no change.its a holley marine 4 barrel from a 5.7.it came with a Rochester 2 barrel originally.this was borrowed from a running boat.we tried dropping one pitch in prop and no change there either.

How is your prop hub? Also, have you done a compression test? Use an infrared thermometer to test your temperature difference, may have some blockage in the starboard exhaust system.
