I have a 75 plus day yesterday and the 15 is the official end of the slip season so i took advantage of the day and spent it out riding and then put it on the trailer and brought it home. The temps dropped to 35 today so it will be a few days before.

Concrete super expensive in Fl. I used 12"x12"x2" patio stone to do our carport for less than 1/3 of concrete estimates. Did it myself over a few days (I'm 63) with blocks delivered from Home Depot. Laid on sand, looks great, has worked surprisingly well! Awesome DIY project....

No, labor not too bad here. High estimates were due to the price of the material. Stupid expensive. There's a retired mason that lives nearby that was willing to lend a hand/supervise the project. I just couldn't justify the price of the job done that way....

Your project would have been a no brainer. That's what I was expecting when collecting the quotes. What I found out is the problem here is with a lack of stone. We have this lime/coral rock kind of stuff, and sand. Gravel and rock have to be trucked in.

Get what you're saying though. I've always been a DIY guy, even if it means the tools to do it right are expensive. Next time I it needs to get done, tools are in stock. That plan played out over 40-50 years, you accumulate a lot of.......stuff! Not to mention the confidence it takes to take on some pretty good size projects....

I have some pics somewhere. Will post later on if/when I find them. -Al

I was lucky to get the carport moved, it was in another location on property i bought this summer, and the house was allowed to run down badly so that had to come first and moving the carport was last but its done and i plan on adding gravel this coming summer, and eventually putting in a 25 x 30 pole barn. Limestone isnt to bad here its 22.50 a ton
