I'm looking for a tender for my 27' Sunray powerboat, something I could tow around without any major problems. There are alot of different sizes and types out there and I'm getting alot of conflicting information from different sources. I am currently looking at an Achilles, I believe it is only 8'5" and a 2.5 hp outboard. Would I have any problems running my boat efficiently (27' with 350 motor) dragging that behind? Or could I go bigger?<br />Thanks!

I have both a small 8.5 ft with a 2 1/2 hp and a 12 ft with an 18..the small on can be easily carried on the bow when travelling a distance..towing the big one is a pain and the engine at over 140 lbs can be difficult to handle when alone..I think something in the middle should be best..dave

I'm think I'm looking for a rigid inflatable. There is an older 8' Achilles inflatable in the area for sale, he is asking $500 (CAN). A new 2.5hp Mercury outboard is going here for $800 (CAN). That is the setup I am currently looking at. When I went to the dealer to look at the O/B, he showed me a plastic tender, 8' long with what looked to be a really wide beam. I don't want to sail it, I just want transportation, when needed, to get me from my boat to shore.
