My96 force stumbles help reaths,stator?

It runs strange like an electrical problem in the engine. When running around 4500rpm it goes up and down. Could my stator be bad and is it easy to replace. Mine is made by mercury and only has one carb. I looked inside the carb when running is this where the reath is. Could it be damaged

I would suspect the fuel pump, or low compression (not operating the pump). But first, make sure the fuel is clean,as well as the fuel line and tanks,and make sure the tank is vent.<br />You didn't mention what year and HP it is.<br />On some Force models, there is a cap on the fuel pump held in place with one screw. There is a filter screen under this cap. At any rate, given the motors age,it could probably use a new fuel pump diaphram.
