I have a 1981 MC 120 HP 2.5L engine on a 17' Rinker bowrider. This spring I noticed a large crack on the exhaust manifold leaking water, so I replaced it with a new OEM manifold. After the repair the engine ran great on muffs, and when I put the boat into my slip 3 weeks ago I took it for a test drive and was surprised to find I had about 300 more top end RPM's(from 4100 to 4400, just a hair above my WOT number...) and about 3MPH more speed from 27 to 30 MPH.

I parked the boat at my slip and just took it out for the 1st time since on Sunday. Well now the boat wont go over 20-21MPH and 4000 is the max RPM's! Any ideas what could have happened in the 3 week period? The engine still sounds the same, could my prop be a cause? It is a 16dia X16 pitch, pretty old aluminum...Can the hubs slowly go bad? TIA...
