I have a 1990 evinrude 70hp and have a fitting that I can't figure out what is suppose to go there. Its on the crankcase just behind the lower carb. Any ideas? I am thinking its an oil line from the vro pump which has been disabled.

Not likely, when connected, it is still open to the air. It can create an oily mess inside the bottom of the lower cowl. That is the airbox drain hose. Any excess oil/ fuel that comes/drips out of the carbs will wind up dripping onto the lower cowling and down the leg-eventually dripping into the lake. The drain line recirculates that fuel/oil mix into the bottom cylinder where it is combusted.

It is the nipple where the hose from the air silencer to the manifold connects.

Can't tell from the pic but if it's 3/16" it goes to the silencer. If it's 1/4" it was the pulse line for the VRO. VRO motors have both fittings.

Plug or cap it with something, else the motor'll lean sneeze. Tie/clamp it good or the pulse will blow it off. Ask me how I know ...
