I have a 1985 90hp merc. I have serious problems starting, but after I get it started, it starts and runs good all day. I flush the motor and put it up, two or three days later, it doesnt want to start again. During the time it will not start, it has no spark. One day I decided to inspect the stator...pulled the flywheel, and visually inspected the stator, put the flywheel back on, and it fired right up. I have successfully started this motor like this ever since...any Ideas as to why this works?
