I have a Doral 210BR running a Merc 4.3l MPI with Alpha one, Gen 2. I was looking around near the inner transom plate and found a black wire dangling from the inner transom plate. I have no idea what it goes to. Boat seems to run fine but I'm concerned that something may not be operating properly with this wire disconnected. Take a look at the pic. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, for your reply. I'm relived that's all it is. Any idea where on the block it's supposed to attach?

It's to help with the grounding of all the various metal parts that may or may not be in the water. Having all parts connected to a common ground (in this cause, battery negative) reduces 'stray current' corrosion issues. It also assists with anodic corrosion protection. Having a common ground means that all anodes contribute to the overall protection of the entire system.
