I waited too long on a nice 18ft Chaparal thinking it would come down and now its gone:(<br /><br />it was a clean 96 with 160 hours 4.3 merc asking 7600. best deal ive found yet.<br /><br />Anyone else have exp with nada not being correct"?

Re: nada guide?

In some regions those values are not as accurate as other areas. I have heard of some people driving to areas where prices are deflated to buy boats. I have heard that deflated prices can often be found in Florida but that's a long way to go for a boat if you live in San Diego!

I've found in the Midwest, it's not too far off. But condition plays such a huge role in boats, so it's tough to compare.

Season, condition and location mean a lot more than the depreciation formula that NADA uses.

I've noticed that NADA is way off around southern WI. Boats sell for thousands more than the guide suggests. I think NADA is averaging boats all over the country and in all conditions. It's pretty meaningless around here.

Re: nada guide?

For anything but cars NADA is completely, totally worthless. If I could buy any boats for the prices they have listed I could make millions reselling them on ebay. A 3 legged goat with a brain tumor could come up with a better price...

Re: nada guide?

I use BUC as a guide, it seams much closer than nada. By the way, on larger (over 30 ft) boats, it seams that nada is far over-priced. Again, it all comes down to the boat, the condition and the area, and even the time of year.

Re: nada guide?

Its not even close on cars around my area. The dealers all base their prices on the outcome of the car auctions at any given time. And as far as boats go I have no idea where they get their figures.

Re: nada guide?

NADA does not buy or sell boats - - people do. Find out what people are doing and you find out the market.
