Hi fella's

I just removed the carpet in the boat and found half a dozen small bulges in the fiberglass floor and a couple of them the fiberglass is slightly cracked and you can see a head of a rusty nail or something. The boat is approximately 27 years old, it is a 16ft swiftcraft tempest hull. They may have been like this for years,I have only owned the boat for six months. The floor is not springy, in fact feels very solid. Is this a problem and if so what should I do?

Thanks Macca

Re: Nails popping

If the floor is soild enough for you to keep and run the boat for a few years, I would waterproof that deck and not look back. The liquid pickup truck bed liner material that you can apply yourself comes to mind. Or maybe just a thin coat of epoxy or polyester resin. Whatever your budget allows. The key is to keep water off of and out of the floor and the hull below...this causes rot. Oh yeah, I think this site shows the bed liner stuff:
www.herculiner.com
