1989 4.3L Cobra

Can someone tell me what this hose is (I put a socket wrench under it to make it more easily visible)? First time I've noticed it, and couldn't easily track it back to it's source. It's cut off at an angle and lays along the engine mounts near the starter.

I assume its just an air intake hose, but want to verify that it's not supposed to be connected to anything and that it's positioned in the correct place. I looked in my service and parts manuals and couldn't find it.

Yup, I sure don't know much about engines, but thanks for bearing with me.

I'd call it "Bob" or "sue", you can call it anythign you like, I guess! But it is probably connected to the block drain plug assembly. It was not a good location as it usually allow'd the water to run directly onto the starter!!

It's actually a drain hose that goes into the back of the flywheel bellhousing at the bottom.
It's also not shown in the Volvo parts book, but it is shown in the engine manual.

Re: Name that hose

Thanks guys. It's actually a little below the starter when it's not propped up, and I could easily position it so it points directly into the bilge. No wonder I had a hard time tracing it back to it's source.
