A triple-header this weekend across two tracks. Cup and Trucks run at Michigan while X-Men have another road course event at Mid-Ohio. Both locales may be a little soggy on Friday, but the rest of the weekend looks to be clear.

The Cup entry list has 39 teams and The Twerp will run the Truck race, the only BuschWhacker entered.

The MRN weekend schedules for the tracks;

News and Notes
  • Driver changes - Kurt Busch and Kasey Kahne will drive for food next year. Busch lost his #41 seat at SHR and Kahne has been bumped from the #5. Both will stay in the cars until the end of the season. Hendrick has announced William Bryon is moving up from Xfinity to Cup in the #5 and SHR is still looking. Kahne may not go hungry because Hendrick will pay him for the last year (2018) of his contract.
  • Danica is having sponsor issues, as in not too many left. Her time in the #10 may be getting short - Stay tuned.
  • The 2nd team for the #77 Furniture Row has no sponsor for next year, so it may be done.
  • Aric Almirola rumors have him maybe leaving Petty and take Smithfield with him.
  • Enough pending driver/team changes, it's time for venue changes. Watkins Glen wants an earlier start time for the Cup race. Attendees who pay to watch the race aren't happy the race started after 3PM and prefer either 1PM or 2PM starts at the latest.
  • One of the Petty owners has brought up team spending caps to help level the field for smaller outfits. No idea if this has traction with the big, multi-car team owners.
  • Next year may have more Saturday Cup qualifying. The Friday Q-ing idea is kinda silly, but who knows what lurks in the minds of Nascar?
  • TV ratings - 2.0 rating and 3.3M viewers. 2016 was a 2.3 rating and 3.8M watchers and the race was against Olympics coverage. Huh? No Olympics and lower rating/viewers. 2015 was 2.5 and 4M viewers.

iBoats Fantasy Live

We have a 4 time winner and a back-to-back winner at The Glen and Pocono in justkiddin 5. He's suckin' these down. slurpee11.png Congrats again, JK5.

TB2448 is leading the overall results, but FloridaFishingNetwork looks to be closing in with sam60 right behind. Only 90 points separate the top 3.

Make your roster changes by 3 o'clock on Sunday. Don't forget to drop the road course ringers, not that they did any good at The Glen. Good luck.

It was announced today that the Chevy teams will be running Camero's next year, I wonder if Ford will bring the Mustang into play?

Well I just heard and read an article about Harvick being Harvick again, making comments about Dale being the reason NASCAR is not growing bigger!

In the final Cup practice Johnson, Stenhouse and Kahne had cobtact with the wall. JJ is going to his backup, not sure about the other two.

In X-Quals at Mid-Ohio several cars ran through the grass and/or hit the guardrails. No idea about how bad damage was.

Trucks are about to start at Michigan with Crafton on the pole and the lone BuschWhacker (yeah, him) starting 10th.

Beautiful day in Brooklyn, Mi. Where are the race fans? Stands look very empty.

Green flag!

JH Nemechek went around into the outside wall. It looked like the rear end washed out while side drafting Briscoe. Scratch one pile of junk.

23 laps to go in Heat #1.

Bubba Wallace wins the race in his return to Trucks. Not a Truck points racer, but better than The Twerp who finished 3rd.

5 of the top 10 finishers are rookies. If Nascar will keep the non-points racers out, Trucks may have a good future to groom new drivers.

X-Men at Mid-Ohio begins in about 30 minutes.

X-Er's are going at Mid-Ohio. 6 laps done and 1st caution for fluid on the track, possibly from the Custer backup car.
