I see Penske dumped 'Dinger.
http://www.nascar.com/news/120801/aallmendinger-released-penske/index.html

No surprise. It violated Penske rules too. Whats' good for one is good for all. Can't make exceptions for the driver. Whtever is going on, because no one knows for sure, it's very unfortunate for all who are involved. They're saying it was some sort of Amphetamine, which can be almost anything.......

Until now, all the radio has been talking about is Sadler's miscue on a restart. Nothing about Cup even tho Junebug is leading the points. The Cup race must not of been very exciting if all they're talking about is a Nationwide restart.

I didn't see any racing this weekend. Heard Jimmie won Cup and Keselowski won Nationwide......

Money and culture has ruined nascar. I wish they could go back to moonshine and fist fights!

Back when it was literally "boys have at it". NASCAR may be getting a little too big for their britches. If they're not careful, they could fall by the wayside......

Re: Nascar

Almandinger just ruined his career. What an idiot......didnt he learn anything from the Mayfield thing??

Nascar has got to be losing money now. From what I'm seeing on television there are near as many people going to the races as there was a year ago.

Culture??? have you ever been to a race? I wouldn't call NASCAR fans cultured.

The moonshine and fist fights never left, they just moved to the grand stands!:p

I can hardly wait until the invade Talladega again at the end of October.

Very cool! I've only been to 'Dega, a half dozen times. I have in-laws in lower Michigan too, but never been to the track. Not sure why. Sure is a lot closer drive!

'Dega is in the beginning of October like it used to be. The late Oct. race was right before Mn deer opener. That's one of the reasons I haven't been back in a few years.

I couldn't agree more but this is what made nascar what it is. Now they are they are trying to clean it up thinking that will attract a wider audience but look at the empty grandstands now. In the old days the tracks were sold out before race day. The difference is what you see now is groomed and cookie cut cars and contract drivers, they have taken the sincerity out of it. It is hard for the average fan to be able to relate to the drivers and teams anymore.

Re: Nascar

Over the years Ive been to alot of races at Charlotte, Richmond, Bristol, Dega, Daytona and MIS and I have never had a single problem with any of the fans. Sure there are a few bad apples out there, when you get that many people together and fill them with alcohol, whip to a frenzy cheering for their favorite driver then turn them loose your gonna have problems. Everyone of them think they are Kyle Busch when they are leaving the parking lot.

We have learned to just stay in our seats after the race and take our time leaving. We try to find a state park close to the track and come in early and stay a extra day after. This year for MIS we have reservations at Hayes State Park just down the road from the track. Its located on Wamplers Lake and we are going in on Thurs. and taking the boat. We plan on doing some fishing and relaxing before and after the race. We have camped near all of the tracks and found that for the most part the people are there with their familys and its a great time. Because these are the people who plan ahead of time.

Believe me I`ve been in that mess of traffic leaving Bristol headed north and the traffic doesnt thin out till Cincinnati. and I swore never again. Its what you make of it just like everything else.

I've been out of it the last couple weeks (boating actually) - Is Hornish going to replace "Ding-Dong"?

For now. But, that may or may not be the case for the rest of the season......

Re: Nascar

Corporate America ruined Nascar.
Back in the day a driver stayed with the car owner forever...same with a sponser.
Then Corporate America figured they spent so much money in the sport that they could "buy" what driver or crew chief they wanted.
Corporate America put a stop to the "good ole boy ways on the track" because they were not going to spend "ALL" that money to have "their" car wrecked on lap 10.
Corporate America runs Nascar...IMHO
Think about it...where would Nascar be without Corporate America...???
