:eek:has anyone delt with national liqudators? we have one here in ft lauderdale and they have a large selection of boats to choose from, but i understand that they can be hard to deal with and of course you are buying a used boat.it might of been abused or repo'ed... i was there a couple of weekends ago and i was on one of the boats and it was still full of unopened beer!anyway i was wondering if the average joe has had any dealings with them or heard any horror stories.

Re: national liquidators

No experience specifically but it's probably the ultimate case of buyer beware. If some of these boats have still got un-opened drinks on em, I doubt there was much time for anything else...such as winterizing, etc.

Good luck and welcome to iboats.:)

They seem to deal with repoed items in particular. My basic concern would be that, if an owner can't afford to make the payments, how much maintenance do you think has been deferred?

They are also advertising 410 boats up for auction "this week." That means high volume, and most likely, sales agreements that are very much "as is, don't bother us if its a hunk of junk."

I would say that buyer beware, is very much in order.

Re: national liquidators

I went to look at a boat at their place here in Ohio about four years ago. When I walked in, they were doing a quick cleaning on a boat that had just come in, just wiping things down. I went out in the yard and looked at the boat I was interested in and came back to talk terms.

They wanted $200.00 for a fee just to make a bid. They said it was up to the bank to accept it or not and if the bank accepted it, I would have something like ten days to remove the boat or get charged storage fees.

They did say I could make a bid contingent on passing a survey though. When I mentioned the name of the surveyor I intended on using, his reaction was enough to let me know that it would not pass.

Maybe you can find a beauty there but as stated in other posts, let the buyer beware.

I purchased my current boat from a simmiliar company in seattle called marine lenders services. I did not need to pay any fees to the broker for the ability to submit an offer. My offer was contingant on a survey once the offer was accepted by the bank that owned the boat I was required to make a 10% down payment to be put in escrow before the survey (this was completely refundable if the survey was negative) and payment in full was required within 5 buisness days of the survey. I wound up with a very good boat at about half of its current market value.

There all repo's and seized boats being auctioned.

Condition can vary in such situations.

Big problem is the buyer's premium if the boat cost under $29,000 they jack you for an extra 10%, which makes the boat I want that they have not such a good deal anymore.

I know someone who won a bid on the 43' Hatteras in Ft Laud but they passed and bought the same (model/year) boat from a private sale. I haven't been able to get the specifics though.

Are you wanting one because they are shutting down, going out of business?
