Have you seen the ad for a "bracelet" that uses "natural frequencies" to alter your balance, increase your energy, etc.??

How in the world can that outrageous lie be allowed on TV? Some people will fall for it and pay $19.95 (plus S&H) for that worthless POJ and be too embarrassed to take them up on the " moneyback".

About the only way it alters your balance, is that your wallet will weigh less.
Increasing your energy comes from the effort used, convincing others you were not ripped off.

P.T. Barnum{I believe} said it best with "There's a sucker born every minute".

It's called free enterprise and caveat emptor. If you don't want it, don't buy it.

No problem for someone who doesn't want it, but fraud is against the law. That is not free enterprise, it is criminal.

All that is necessary for evil to succeed is for honest men to do nothing.

I assume that you have performed extensive research, and have proven their claim to be untrue? Please post the results.

I do not believe that the ad is fraudulent until the person buying the item falls down while trying to balance one self while wearing the bracelet, then it becomes misrepresentation equalling fraud.

Now I'm confused. :) :)

If it does work, it's all psychological. Which isn't a bad thing. I put it in the same category as a copper bracelet.

My father in-law wears a copper bracelet and swears by it. Like he said, "as long as it takes the pain away, who cares if it's all in my head". I agree.

I completely agree with JB, the increasing lack of truth in advertising is abysmal.

On the weekend saw an ad for Cialis, where a concert-bound couple kept a taxi waiting for quite a while.

I don't believe for a minute that the wife "couldn't decide what to wear"!

I have to applaud our own FDA for recently cracking down on products claiming specific health benefits. Cheerios and a form of Listerine have been recent "victims". Their case is, you want to taut all these health benefits then fine, you'll be tested and regulated as a drug.

When I'm conflicted after seeing ads like that on TV, I look to my pet rock for comfort and advice.

If you wear those bracelets doesn't it interfere with the magnets you wear for a bad back?

I don't see anything wrong with what they are promoting. No different than those magnetic and copper bracelets, herbs, potions and other assorted herbal and natural remedies, of which there are hundreds if not thousands, claiming to cure everything from a hangover to terminal cancer.

What makes you assume it is an outrageous lie? Has it been proven or dis-proven by any reputable medical body? The Chinese have practiced acupuncture for hundreds of years and believe strongly in its powers. Our western culture think it nothing more than black magic.

Re: "Natural frequencies"??

We don't have to prove that it doesn't work, if challenged, the company pushing the snake oil has to prove their claims. Typically, they'll sell the junk till they get challenged, making a small fortune until the regulators get at them, at which time they'll quietly disappear.

Remember a few years ago those miracle devices that were supposed to treat joing pain, arthritis, etc...? They were nothing more than gas grill ignitors.
Absolutely no medical validity at all, and they sold these $2 devices for $40!

The company went away when they were instructed to document their claims.

The hucksters made millions.

Then there were the magical cattle magnets. Same type of scam. First they somehow allowed cars to get better fuel economy. The magnetism somehow realigned the molecules in the gasoline to allow it to burn more completely or with more power or some other bold faced lie. The FTC made them prove their claims, and of course they couldn't cause it was all hooey.
Then these same hucksters laid low for several years, and pushed their left over inventory as water softeners- claimed the same bs- that the magnetism aligned the water molecule and lo and behold- free soft water!
More hogwash.

The general pattern of a scam is to lie, and sell as much as possible before you get pushed off the air.
