My moronic drunken neighbor was driving his 2x4 atv up and down the road, towing his teenage kids behind. One is on a plastic sled, one on a wooden tabogan, both pulled by a 10' piece of knotted up binder twine. There was a car coming, duh- it is a road, so he tries to do a quick u-turn and head back the other way. HA!! He fails at the u-turn and ends up in my front yard. One kid ends up getting flipped onto the road in front of the car. The other kid ends up slamming into the atv, the kids wrist and hand took quite a hit, may be broken.

Now, an hour later, the guy is towing two smaller (5-8 years old) kids.

Well, its time for me to go spike the road. That will fix him up. :p

rosco go call local sheriff's dept. and let them put the fear in him.
What he is doing is a felony better known as child endangerment.

Re: Natural selection trying to do its job.

When I first moved here 6 years ago, I called to complain about all the atv and smowmobile traffic on the road, both children and adults. They told me they won't act on it unless they see it, or it results in an auto accident. The really sad part, is that all my neighbors have between 10 and 200 acres of private land to play on.

The woman across the street makes her boys wear a helmet when they ride their bicycles, but not when they run the atv up and down the road.

As far as a felony charge, around here?, huh. Never gonna happen. Our DA boasts that she has only had a couple (4 or 5) cases go to trial in the last 4 years. She pleads everything down to get a guilty plea, and apparently won't bring charges if the case isn't a sure thing.

Wow. Talk about "things that make you go hmmmmmm?" I hope the kids are ok, and I hope they won't become adults that think this kind of think is a good idea to repeat with thier kids.

roscoe,

Maybe your DA needs to read about the 12 year old who was riding around on a snowmobile alone on Lake Delavan. He ran into a permanent dock at a high rate of speed and went airborne.

This young man most likely will lose both of his legs. The owner of the snowmobile said the young man "stole" the snowmobile. The emergency tech who answered the call said he was the most seriously injured person he ever saw that lived.

Pretty tough lesson for a 12 year old. :(

Just like the doctor (yes I said doctor) that let his two little girls take the jet ski out. Can't remember the ages, I think one was 5 and the other 7 or 8, they hit a dock, one was killed and the other was injured. Had a moron towing his kids in town a few winters ago on a old car hood tied to the bumber of his rig. He took a corner and the hood/children combo whipped into a parked truck killing one and injuring the rest. Stupidity knows no bounds...

What really scares me is I did similar stuff such as towing people behind ATVs on ice and dirt when I was younger after my parents told me multiple times how dangerous it is... ah what do they know.

It is good to know that Darwin lives on. We have no trouble with snowmobiles in Florida but the PWC crowd is alive and well.they think thet they have brakes! All too often you hear about them trying to mow down docks and channel markers. Many times the folks who rent them to tourists get busted for renting to underagers or not giving the safety speach.
72 and sunny...

Not to mention how the life of the unlucky driver of the car that kills a child will be changed forever regardless of who's at fault. No matter how careful you are, it could still happen when idiots are on the loose.

Have you tried calling Child Protective Services? An alert adult pulling kids around the pasture sounds like fun, but this guy, especially if he's drunk...can you say "child endangerment?"

Pikey's right - I don't know how I survived to adult age myself. My own slogan as a teenage driver: "nothing sobers you up like getting behind the wheel of a car." Guess having children is supposed to change all that. You need a license to operate a motor vehicle, but any idiot who can copulate can become a parent!
