Hello.
We have a Navionics 16GB CF card that after an update has ceased operating with both Raytech RNS 6.2 and the Raymarine C120W MultiFunction Display (MFD).
What must we do to restore it? See details below.
Thank you in advance.
Andy Lavarre
========== Details ==========
1. The card label reads:
Navionics+ Preloaded
CF/NAV+n1
US1IZZ1EM611UU
It was purchased and activated 10/31/15.
2. I AM using the Navionics E86026 Multi Card Reader.
3. We (Navionics, Raytech, and I) determined at that time that this card can service the Raymarine C120W MFD only if the cartographic content is restricted to less than 2 MB (details further below).
I used the Navionics Chart Installer at that time to follow Navionics instructions, erase the CF card of all Navionics content and reinstall less than 2 MB of charts. This has worked flawlessly for two years. However, the new ChartInstaller does not offer an option to erase all Navionics content.
Should I do that manually?
4. Yesterday I decided to update the charts. I paid $99 to renew my subscription and downloaded the latest ChartInstaller program. I successfully upgraded all my installed charts.
However, now:
Both the RNS 6.2 software and they Raymarine C120W MFD freeze (crash) if the CF card is installed:
5. RNS 6.2 is running on Windows 10.
We have determined that your MultiCard Reader is dysfunctional under Windows 10:
http://forum.raymarine.com/printthread.php?tid=603
Per the FAQ found here, the Navionics Multicard Reader is not compatible with Windows 10 (including its compatibility mode options).
The following message is displayed when we activate the card under Windows 10:
"There's a problem with this drive. Scan the drive now and fix it."
We have tried both ignoring the message and scanning the drive. Neither helps.
Not good, but we can live with it if the MFD works,
But it doesn't.
6. We have carefully followed the Raymarine suggestions:
http://tinyurl.com/y75sf6ao
in particular, to delete chartcal.xml, but upgrading the card with ChartInstaller deleted that file, so this point is moot.
None of the other suggestions work either.
1) We have followed all the suggestions in
http://clubsearay.com/archive/index.php/t-41438.html
without success:
1. Please verify that the chart application's cartography configuration setting for Chart Display has been configured for detailed or extra detailed:
I have tried all three possibilities.
2. Also, check that the Chart application's Declutter feature (PRESENTATION->DECLUTTER) has been configured to OFF.
3. (Discussion of chartcal.xml)
4. If the chart card or MFD's memory card reader has experienced a failure...
It hasn't: I can write and read from the card
5. Then the chart card should be tested in a Raymarine dealer's display.
I went to West Marine, but all their displays are now mini-SD, no CF displays available.
6. Should the chart card not function in the dealer's display, then the chart card may be sent to Raymarine, Inc. to be tested or to Navionics to be tested and/or replaced (if in warranty).
Presumably since I have bought it and just paid another $100 to update it, we should be able to resolve this forthwith.
But, in the meantime, I would certainly appreciate hearing of other folks' experiences in this regard.
Thanks again, Andy
