if your axle is now through the springs, you can remove and place it "under" the springs.. that will ive you about 3-4 more inches room there...same installation with U bolts and plates.....one way maximizes space, the other does not... rides the same. If you are already installed with axle under the springs.. and sagging to much. I'd say you might have to much weight and need new springs for that load

So long as there's Never Rubber/ Steel contact at the extremes, yer good to Go,....

Could be 1/2", or could be 2", but as long as it Clears, it really don't matter,...

Don't mess with the suspension...raise the fenders if you really need the room. That's what I did on my trailer.

WHY? its not an offroad wheeler!

I might have just over an inch (if I am lucky)

the suspension on a trailer doesn't move as much as a car/truck as its not trying to cushion the passengers (thus no shocks). all the suspension is doing is holding the load without being stagnant on the axle forcing the tires to cushion all the weight (which in reality they do the most)

If this is a tandem trailer, it may need more clearance.
