I have a 1982 evinrude 90hp motor that ive put on a 17 foot cedarstrip boat, this motor is tuned to perfection and powered my old glass boat that weighted 2040lbs without anything to 5500 rpm and a speed of 35 mph.I was using a solas amita 14x17p 4 bladed prop that was the best that ive had for that boat. Now ive gone back to my first love which is wood boats, particurally cedarstrip,my question is that this boat weighs 500 lbs less motor ,and im trying to get the prop right the first time if i can.Ive been given 2 props ,1 is a 19p stainless and the other is a 12 3/4 x21p stainless to try,im leaning towards the 21p ,any thoughts on this?ive included a pic of the boat before outfitting.

I assume the boat is rated for 90hp?Is that a modern boat?I'm thinking the 21 is the way to go.
The rounded bottom will slow it some.
I have a tiller 88 50 Erude on a 375# bare bones 18' Crestliner roughly the same hull shape. Not as fine an entry.Probably signifigantly wider.
It screams unfortunately I don't know the prop size or speed. Its reasonably fast with 1,000 lbs of lumber and 2 people in it.

Re: need a little nudge in the right direction

yes its rated for 90 hp ,went out today for first time and hit 5500 and 46 mph by gps with the 21 p ss .good enough for me and the water was as flat as could be so maybe a couple more mph with a slight chop.if you concider 30 or 40 years old modern, then its modern, lol:D.its been redone though!thanks for the reply.:)i might add that im very pleased that i can throttle back and stay on plane at 2300 rpm and compared to the previous boat ive gained mileage big time.
