I would suggest going to a DNR office and talking to someone. I lost a title once & they were helpfull in getting it taken care of.
Since the boat was registered in Md. they should have records, lien info, etc.
Maybe it can retitled as abandoned property or as payment for a debt(rent)

What you have suggested about buying a title and using it to register this abandonded vessel is way beyond illegal, and is in fact a felony in some states.

Contact to DNR (or whoever handles watercraft registration in your state, give them the hull id numgers, the old registration number and tell them your story.

I'd omit the part about soliciting on the internet for a title.

Contact to DNR
Yes, do this. Don't mess around with a fradulent title. Get a legal title and pay the Maryland registration fees or they will get you.

BTW: Did you ever think that this could be a stolen boat and that's why it was left there?

In Florida there is a process to obtain a title for a boat that has been abandoned. Check for MD.

to start the prossees in md i need to know the last reg owner. none of the official agencies will tell me that do to the privacy laws. i know the boat is not stolen, because the guy that left it got it from his boss that had it sitting with blown motor so he brought it out and gave it to the one who left it. he put in a new motot and then left town. now ive got a boat with new motor and no title. md dnr wont help me with last owners address. and police wont help wth the trailer.

For the trailer I know you can go to the DMV and tell them it is a “home made trailer” and they will give you a title and a metal I.D. tag that you will have to attach to the trailer. As for the boat. I am sure a local boat salvage yard (check yellow pages) would know how to do it. I would go in person to ask. If you call on the phone they may think it is a set up and just say “cant help you” and hang up. A extra twenty in your pocket may also help.
