need a tach. merc 1150

my origional '70 thunderbolt tach is no good.<br />can these be repaired? can you still get them<br />new or used? <br />origional would be nice, but would like to know of<br />any other options for aftermarket too.<br />doesn't this motor require a special tach for the<br />thunderbolt ignition?<br />thanks in advance,<br />M.Y.

If I'm not mistaken you need a special tach for that motor. Go to www.teleflex.com and look under tech support to find the tach you need. They have many different styles. You can also check out the site www.surplusunlimited.com to see if they have a tach that will fit. They're good folks and stand behind their products. Mellow Yellow,<br /><br />I have a Teleflex tach on my 1971 115 Merc. It works fine. It connects to the two stator wires.<br /><br />Regards, Gold Bear

wait... doesn't the tach. attatch to the rectifier?
