need a tree doctor

I have an acacia tree in the back yard thats infested with some form of insects, they dig little tunnels in it. I'm guessing termites, but have not seen any acual bugs. There is a 5/16th hole in the trunk and maybe a 3/16th or smaller in the thinnner branches, I want to save this tree, anybody familiar with tree treatments?

tomorrow, I'm going to try to pump some water into the tree through the little holes, and try to drown the little buggers.

Not familiar w/acacia trees, but it sounds like some kind of borer.
Inject the holes w/ lindane(if it is still available).
A trigger tyle oil can works well for doing this.
