Does anyone have a wiring diagram for wiring a push button to the igniton switch so there is no need for holding the key to start the engine being that it is in an ackward place on the dash? Or for that matter can anyone offer assistance? Thanx ahead of time!

I cannot believe the ignition switch is in a place you cannot reach comfortably. But yes -- you can do this and I can provide a schematic, just not tonight. The button has one wire connected to the "B" (battery) terminal on the ignition switch and the other is connected to the "S" (starter solenoid) on the ignition switch. You will still need to turn the key to RUN to start the engine. Now then, what are you going to do about the choke/primer since that is essentially another switch (pushing in the key). Does this still sound like a good idea???? Why not just move the current switch.

Silvertip the only reason the key switch is in a bad location is that my fish finder sets right in front of it (real close) and I don't want to relocate the key switch if I don't have to and the location of the fish finder is the only optimal location that I can think of (installed by P/O). I did not realize my choke was primed from the ignition switch (I/O). But if I decide to do so can use duel blade connectors so I do not have to splice into "B" & "S" terminal wires? Thanx allot Silvertip for your time and experience.

Yes -- But you still have the choke/primer issue to deal with. If you didn't know you had to push in on the key to choke/prime the engine, how have you been starting it (unless the engine is EFI/DFI or Yamaha Prime Start which would be good to know).

As far as I know it does not have the prime option on my key switch. This is a 3.0 LX 95 on a 96 searay carburated and with the EST ignition.I always just set the choke by pushing the shift lever forward and back to 1/4 and start or am I still missing something here?

You don't need it so there will be no connection on the "C" terminal if the switch has one.

RICOSUAVE7777 -- You continue to hijack other peoples threads which is very impolite. Start your own please. It would also help if we knew what it was you are working on. You say your switch has various colors and the harness has differing colors. That doesn't make sense. The harness is what connects to the switch so how can you have two different harnesses.
