Hello Gentlemen:

Newb here with a question. In 2007, I purchased an old mahogany boat for restoration. At the time, it had a 1965 Johnson 75HP, model V4AL-17S on it. While stripping it down to begin the resto, the helper at the place I bought it, actually the place that it was built 40 + years ago, asked me (while I was doing other things) if I was going to use the motor after the resto. I told him no. When I looked around he had cut the harness in half, and was preparing to pull the engine off. Long story after that!! Ergo my problem.

I have have finally decided that I want to try to refurb the motor and see if I can get it running and possibly use it on the boat. Before I take the time and trouble to rehab the motor, I want to find a new to me replacement harness. I will need a complete one since later on, the entire old harness disappeared from the place where I was storing the motor. I have checked the web in every possible way I can think of and haven't had any luck finding one.
Any ideas where to go look?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance. BM

That is too bad.

You could try the salvage yards listed in the FAQS or a wanted ad at aomci.org in the webvertize.

Short of that, make your own, that is what I do.

If you do not have the controls for the electramatic shift/throttle, then you might want to think hard about whether or not you want to continue. Those controls are worth what the rest of the motor is worth.

I have the control box and had the harness till it got cut and then disappeared. It may not be worth the effort if I can't find a harness for a reasonable price.

Finding a harness that is not totally rotten from age will be hard. There is really not that many wires in the harness, so making one from the motor to the control and ignition switch is not too difficult.
