It's a reputable shop. Call and talk to them.

My opinion/suggestion hasn't changed. You have 14 days to see how it runs, imo.

Any pictures of pistons taken through the missing bypass cover.------Maybe one of the motors run on the infamous 100:1 mix.----Despite what some will say the 100:1 mix just does not make for a long lived motor !!----If you can feel the vertical scratches with finger nails it needs boring and O/S pistons and rings.

I will attach a few I took. Shipping this thing back. Cylinders were in far worse shape than my original powerhead.

Where are you located. Why are you not rebuilding your own powerhead?

I am in North Texas. My own powerhead has flat spots in cylinder walls below porting that I would guess exceeds .030” . I haven’t verified with calipers.

When looking into cost to have a machine shop rebore And purchasing oversized pistons/rings I thought it would make more sense to purchase good used powerhead because so many components were bad (bad rod bearings etc).

If rod bearings are bad then likely you need a crankshaft and 2 rods.------Now that gets pricey.----I would want / get 5 parts motors for the price of those items.

Agreed. Not sure yet, but that may be exactly what this one is becoming! :kev::moony:

Top cylinder rod was discolored a reddish hue and crank showed evidence of heat scorching (purple discoloration). Rod bearings had rollers falling out.

This combined with flat spot in cylinder walls led me to buying used powerhead that I’m in The process of returning.

Post pictures of rod and the crankshaft surface.

What do you think? Economically feasible to fix? Red color rod is from top cylinder
