Hello all,

I have a 73 starcraft american 16 and i'm half way through my complete restoration. I have the hull upside down in my covered driveway, the deck is in the other driveway already primed. I have some serious work ahead of me and am glad i took the time to flip it over and do the repairs needed. I have found some deep scratches and chips in the fiberglass of the hull. I'm ok doing the work filling and sanding but i'm lost after the prep is done.

In order to get most of theses scratches out there are some spots of the boat that are now bare fiberglass, or so i think. I'm new to rebuilding boats and dont know what to do to seal this thing. I have painted cars and bikes but never a boat. There are so many primers and paints that i'm lost as to what i need.

Heres how im using my boat and maybe someone can clue me in as to what to do.

This boat will be trailered and covered when not in the water. Living in southern louisiana it will prob see the water maybe once a week. Saltwater is the only water I intend to launch it in. I would like to paint it silver or a gray color.

I hear from almost everyone i dont need anti fouling? is this true? can i paint the whole hull with brightside? HELP!!! thanks in advance for any advice:

Brightside or rustoleum (they even make a marine paint) is fine, you only need anti fouling if you are moored in water overnight routinely:cool:
