The 1983 Starcraft 15 ft. SS that I purchased last winter has turned out to be a great boat. I did some minor repairs and a lot of cleanup and I have been hitting the local lakes happy as a kid in a toy store. The hull below the waterline shows its age. Some scratches and dings and the bottom paint looks like it has been sanded clean do to wear. The carpenter in me says "restore and repaint". The fisherman in me says "If it don't leak- Let's go fishing". I will post new picts tomorrow and look forward to hearing some input.
I boats rocks and the advice that I have recieved since joining has been right on.
Thanks,
Steve McIntire

Aluminum boats aren't supposed to be that pretty anyway.

Right now you don't have to worry about scratching the paint on your boat, paint it and that will change.

Boat is 31 years old, expect an girl to get dressed up? Up to you as how far you want to go with the look of it, "if it ain't broke.....don't fix it" was advice given to me by my grandfather. Saved me many time. The real decision is whether your happy with look of it. If it's the bottom you're worried about, then you're only worried about how it looks when it's on the trailer heading heading to or from the water. Time, effort and money will achieve the result you're after.

I catch as many nice trout and bass in my old Starcraft as my best friend does in his nice shiny Nitro. His boat looks sharper than mine, but the fish I catch have never complained about how scratched up my hull paint is.:D
