Thinking about purchasing a 1994 Tracker Nitro 170DC Rick Clunn Edition Boat....115hp Merc

My question is, what are your opinions on this boat, particularly the hull strength. I have heard that early Nitros had problems with the hull and I don't know if this boat is in that time frame when they did (if they did).

The boat seems to be in great shape and has been maintained yearly.... Any input would be appreciated.... and a price you would offer knowing the boat is in excellent condition....
Thanks

Re: Need Advise on a Tracker Nitro Boat

Kclost, I have a 1991 Nitro 180 FS with an Evinrude 150 on it, the hull is in great shape, the transom was another story, in the process of replacing.. mine had small cracks in the self bailing area from the rot.. I would suggest taking a good look at the stern.. poor design when it comes to keeping water out.. other than that, it's a great hull.. handles real well..

For that year of a boat, I would think it would run some where from $6k to $8k but I'm no expert by all means..

When did you replace the transom? For a 1991 it seems like it rotted very quickly....

Re: Need Advise on a Tracker Nitro Boat

I'm in the process of doing it now, should have the majority of the work done this weekend..

The problem lies in the design, mine has two crome vents on the stern, when you come to a stop, the wake washes on the back of the boat.

The water was going in the vent and following the inside of the top half of the hull going right behind the transom.. if Tracker had sealed that area off where no water could get behind, it would be fine today..

Had over a gallon of water behind the transom when I removed the rotted plywood.. If you look in the last compartment, look up towards the top of the stern, you will see a gap there.. the plywood is exposed..
