1995 Crownline 350 mag carbed alpha 1 gen two. Last time on the lake idle too high, diesel when shut down, bit of a clunk when engaged into gear. I turned down idle to about 500-600 changed plugs, clunk gone, dieseling gone. Now however sometimes when engaging into fwd it clicks then goes into gear. Reverse goes in smooth but as soon as I try to throttle in reverse it dies. You can put it in reverse and idle off trailer but give it gas and it dies. Never did that when idle was too high nor did it click(sometimes) before engaging into fwd. Some of the time it would go into fwd smooth as silk with no clicks or clunks. Have I turned the idle too far down and thus caused this new set of problems or does it sound like cable adjustments need to be made? Thanks for any advise you all might have

Re: need advise

Does the drive have to come off to replace that cable or can it be done with the drive on? It's weird that by turning the idle adj. on the carb a turn or so that all of these new problems came up. Thank you for the help.

Re: need advise

Ayuh,.....

The Idle should be set to 650rpms to 750rpms, in gear, in the water....

And,...
I agree, your lower shift cable is on it's way Out,...
The Outdrive,+ the Gimbel Housing need to be removed for the Repair.....
It's Best to replace ALL of the Rubber parts while you have it torn down....
