Need advise!

Hello all I just got through ordering parts for my out drive when I stumbled upon a problem.You see I was told that the out drive was a pre alpha. But when I matched the serial numbers to that of MERCSTUFF I got that it was a Mercruiser 120/140. I ordered pre alpha parts now what.Its of a 1973 Reinell Closed bow with the 3.0L. The parts that I ordered look identical to those on mine. Any help would be great. Serial number 3512779<br />Thanks

Thanks That makes me feel a lot better. After I got looking in mercstuff I relized that it more than likely would be the same parts but was not really for sure. I got the boat from a buddy of mine for 500$. He had just rebuilt the carb and put speakers in. I put a CD player in and my CB radio and antenna. And off I went. The only problem that I had was that it would not shift in to reverse. After messing with it out on the water for about a half hour she purrs like a kitten. When I went to winterize this year I found that the out drive gear lube was pretty milky I decided to tear down and see why. I think that I found the colprit. The water pump seal that seals to the shaft was burned up letting water down into the seal. so I am putting a complete water pump kit on and all new seals as well. Thanks Bondo for easing my mind.
