anyone have a 1 3/8 lower carb or a pair of carb's, I could use primers or chokes
I want to put them on 79 140
Also does anyone know if individual carb parts such as throttle shafts can be purchased from dealers? A shaft might get me going as the one I have is worn.

Also if I change from 1 3/8 to 1 5/16 venturi's do I need to change high speed jets? if so up or down and aprox how much? My current jets are 65c Just looking for aproximation Thanks

Re: Need crossflow carb

Carbs are jetted according to the calibrations of the carb itself, not as to what motor its on. If you look thru all the years of 115 cf carbs you will see the jets vary a lot. Whatever carb you use, the jet sizes are related to that carb.

Are you sure the shaft is worn or is the body worn where the shaft goes thru?

DH
Actually they are both worn but the shaft has considerabble wear and I also suspect that it might be slightly bent as it seemed as if one side was not closing completely causing a low speed lean pop and while disasembling it one of the plates screws broke. I have no idea how to get that thing out or even why I would bother on that shaft..
How does one begin to find correct jetting without having equip to calibrate carbs?

To get the plate screws out, file down the side that is not slotted first. The threads are 'peened' after installation.
I don't think you'll find new carbs (and they used to be $350. each).Used carbs are going to be near the same point of being worn out.
Are the shafts really worn,or is it mostly the carb body?

I may have an idea.

DHP

You dont have to calibrate the carb. Just use the jets it was produced with. Thats why its important to know what motor the carbs really came off of.

Are there numbers on the face (lower front) of the upper body of the carburetors, and if so, what are those numbers?
