Picked up a Force 9.9 92F5B, S/N 1502 with a gas tank for $135. An '85 right? Well to the COMPLETE novice it looked well kept. I was assured by the seller that it ran great, just pull the rope and go. Not quite. Tension pin in the shift rod was replaced by copper wire, (Guess what? It broke!) Some creative use of hose clamps on the throttle, kill switch not working. Spool starter not working. Still, I think a good deal for the price. Cosmetically in good to very good shape, and started easily (once I reset the pinion spring). Anyway I also didn't catch that the tilt/trim was busted. The Clymer manual I bought doesn't show any pics of how the parts go together, and the marina I bought the parts from can't get me a pic of what it looks like. Anybody have this motor, or one like it, that could send me a diagram or photo? If not, could anyone suggest where to find one? How about a good source for mail order parts? :) but

TIA,

Matt

Here's a spot for you to get your info, I hope :)
http://www.mercruiserparts.com/select_models2.asp?type_id=FORC

When you first get to the site, the first line is all tilt and trims for Force.

Further down the page is your model for parts and it should be 9.9HP (1984 - 1995) 1984-A THRU 1992-B and yes, your motor is a 1985 model. Once you go into this section, the very first line is a model index.

There are exploded views so you should be able to determine any part that you may need.

Hope this helps,

Dymo
