Engine runs when started but dies soon. Temporarily jumped fuel pump and keeps running. Happened after changed alternator -- suspect blown diode green from alt to fuel pump Will do diode check first when return to boat but would like to buy and have replacement on hand -- I understand they are buried in the wiring harness -- any idea where to buy replacement or at least locate part number? Cannot find on line via usual searches for parts...... ? same diode orange wire from starter to fuel pump just in case it blown too.....

Thanks

How do you know it's the diode?

Could be the fuel pump relay or the alternator.

A couple tests:
  1. Jumper the fuel pump, start the engine and measure the output of the alternator L2 terminal.
  2. Remove the green wire from the alternator L2 terminal and jumper the green wire to 12V and measure the pin in the fuel pump relay socket
If it passes those 2 tests, then yes your diode needs to be replaced.

thanks -- will do -- boat an hour away, would like to have a diode already this weekend to replace if faulty, but have not been able to find a source specific to this boat -- I guess any in-line 1.5 amp diode from an electronic parts store will suffice?

The boat starts without the relay jumpered and runs with the fuel pump jumpered. so agree is either the diode or alternator (new, just installed but I guess could be faulty) or some problem in the green wire other than blown diode.....
