Hello all, I’m new to boats and this forum so here is the problem I understand that you can use the gm engine but can I use a late model one and what do I do with the distributor. Sorry I have a 94 stingray with the v8 So how do I use a late model 350? (04 and up)

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,...... Do you mean like the 5.3l V8s,..??

The 350 is the good ole SBC motor, 'n works just fine, right up to it's last iteration,....

You use a marinized motor, not an engine from an automotive application

Year replacement and sorry for posting with out reading the important stuff. So I I’m confused about the gm 5.7 vortex engine. I understand it has to be marinized, but what is the last year I can use. The motor that’s on the boat now is a gm 5.7 that’s cracked up. I’m reading that a gm 5.7 from a parts yard can be used my question is what year can I get I.e 2004 or

the automotive world quit using the SBC in 1999 (2000 on some models) when the GM cars and trucks switched from the Gen 1 SBC to the LS motors.

your 2004 block and heads are the same as the automotive 1996-2000

the marine world buys their motors from the GM industrial division.

so you have to get a motor from GM, or one of the crate sellers like michigan motorz.

since your block is busted from improper winterization. its a good chance your exhaust is busted too.

you have your choice of new or reman

However you can also buy a GM block from GM, https://www.gmperformancemotor.com/category/SB134.html
stuff it with a SCAT stroker rotating assembly

and build a 377 (6.2) for about $4400
