purchased an older Zeta 24' Alaskan Bulkhead.
I'm installing all new electronics. I have mapped it all out in excel, but can't figure out how to post the diagram!

Top of Cab;
Lowrance BR27, RC42 Rate Compass.

Overhead consule at Helm:
RC42,NMEA 2000,HDS 7, S.H. GX2150 Matrix + (AIS), # 1 Blue Seas ATC Fuse Panel.

In Helm;
HDS 8, # 2 Blue Seas ATC Fuse Panel.

Starboard Compartment;
LSS-1, # 3 Blue Seas ATC Fuse panel.

Wired as below;

NMEA - Fused Power, HDS 7- S.H. 2150 ( bare-green, blue-blue,orange-brown), HDS 7-power switch - fused power, all yellows (BR27,LSS-1,HDS 8) - HDS 7, LSS-1-fused power, BR27-fused power.

HDS 7 - NMEA, HDS 8 - NMEA, RC42 - NMEA.

Ethernets;
HDS 7, HDS 8, BR27 - LSS-1.

Transducers;
LSS-1 - LSS - 1 control, XDCR - HDS 8.

Will this work, will I be able to overlay the radar on both screens as I choose, will the S.H. overlay vessels in area info?
Does anyone see any reason, other than it's Lowrance, for it not to work?

I also discovered a couple of Armar through hulls, one has a little paddle wheel and 9 - 10 pin holes and the other is just brass with only 3 pin holes. The original owner, is no longer able to answer any questions, so does anyone know what units these might work for? :confused:

Re: Need electronics guidance

Get a converter like CutePDF and then post the pdf file here.

Re: Need electronics guidance

I converted the exccel to pdf already, I'm running Windows 7, but then how do I post it?
I tried to "copy-paste' but nothing happens?

Use a free image host site. I use Photobucket. Hot link the url from Photobucket into this forum to show the image. Surround the image URL w/ the [ IMG ] and the [ /IMG ] tags (w/o the spaces).

(Note there are trolls and hackers, so lock and password protect the Photobucket account.)

Here is an example for my stereo schematic.

Go to Dropbox.com and get an account. Then you can put your file in there and create a link to paste in here. Dropbox.com is pretty awesome.

Re: Need electronics guidance

Thank-you for posting that Wingless!
It's a lot cruder than your schematic, but the basic idea is there. LOL

Red = Power
Black = ground
Dark Blue = Nmea 2000 cables
Orange = Ethernet cables
Yellow = all yellow trace wires connected to HDS 7
NMEA 1083 between HDS 7 and the Standard Horizon GX2150 AIS/DSC radio

Re: Need electronics guidance

You are welcome.

The PDF that was received was changed to a JPG and uploaded to my Photobucket account, then hot-linked into the forum using the IMG tags.

Crude is fine if it has the required information. A schematic is a map that documents the system, during installation and many years later for troubleshooting and upgrades.

Adding a legend, or adding labels to the wires / cables wouldn't hurt.

Re: Need electronics guidance

In the practical application, I have wiring tags on all my boat wiring. We get booklets full of the # tags for tracing wiring when doing instrumentaion jobs. I have a journal in my boat, that has all the tag # recorded and their wires referenced to location.
I can open a switch panel, say wire # 004 is looking grim, look in my book and trace the wire to, say the leds or horn or wherever it goes.
Same with the above Electronics!
