have a Merc "Classic 50" Serial# OA996651<br /> It is labeled 45 on the front cover. It's 4 cyl with 2 carbs and uses the barrel style plug on the main harness. I was told it was a mid '80's motor, but I thought the later style harness plug, & dual carb started sometime in the '90's. The engine does have style of covers (Top cover, belt, and face plate)like the older ones. Has red trim on the badging.<br />Any idea what year it is?
