Hey gang. I haven't played any of my drumsets in about 10 years. I recently set back up my one electric kit, and have begun the painful embarrasing process of relearning to play. Hey everyone needs a winter hobby right. It's amazing how much I've forgotten, actually not forgotten, but can't get my hands to do what my mind wants. My mind is smart, but hands, well they are dumb. It'll come back, just gonna take some time. I didn't get as good as I was before over night, and don't expect to get back to that level that quickly either.

Anyways I need a decent pair of head phones to play music and the kit through. Any suggestions? I need something light weight, and relatively low profile so I don't knock them off while flailing around the kit. My only real requirement is they have to fit over the entire ear so they block out some noise. Whats good? Do I splurge on Bose, does Shure make and good ones?

I used to use basically a stage monitor kit, with a wireless transmitter, and a belt pack you would plug head phones, or earbuds into. I still have a custom molded set of earbuds, but my pack died. The only thing I can find are true stage monitors systems and they are several hundred dollars. The system I used to use was meant more for wireless home audio, rather than a true live stage monitor. Anybody have any ideas of anything available. I tried a google search, but can only find wireless headphones.

Thanks
Bill

I just stopped beating on my new electirc kit.

I say beating cause I'm no drummer.

Did you check musicians friend, next day music or sweetwater?

I'm using a pair of AKG K-44 but their really just cheap closed back phones i bought when i had my studio.

Thank to whoever moved this, it may get better exposure over here.

Yea I looked at musicians friend last night. Their prices seem really really high on everything. Even used equipment. For instance I was looking at used stage monitors and for one that is broken and needs repair to work they still want like 80% of retail for it!

I think i may stop out at my local guitar center tonight and see what they recommend. I better leave my visa at home tho. :)

What kind of electric kit are you using? I'm using a Yamaha DTX 2.0, I bought it back in high school when they first came out. It's good enough to mess arhound on, but i miss the set of Roland V Drums my buddy had. They were just tooooo dam expensive at the time. But man are they nice for a electric kit.

I've always liked Sennheiser. Light weight, great sound and usually not too expensive.

I used to have a pair of Sennheiser phones forgot about them.

I never looked at used stuff at musicians friend just new. Their prices are great with free shipping and tax free got to luv it! Same day music is great too.

I'm beating on (not really playing) a ion audio studio session kit. They are somehow involved with Alesis. I only paid $120 for a refurb kit. It doesn't have a sound module just usb and midi out. I'm running it through my M-Audio project mix and using my imac running Logic with the EZ Drummer drum sampler as the instrument.

It works great, the pads are completely better then I thought they'd be, don't like pedals though I'm about to buy a double kick pedal and hit a pad with it. That and add two cymbal triggers for ride and hat (crash pad has choke so that will stay)

What kind of music are you into?
